You can combine fixed-format (both original and extended Factor 2) and free-format calculations within the same program, but the resulting code, although perfectly functional, may not look very good or be maintained easily by other programmers.
Listing 4-6 shows a program segment that mixes use of RPG’s original format, the extended Factor 2 format, and free format in its calculations.
