From the Seiden SmartSupport mailbag: One issue I keep coming across is the inability to search for text in source members across all libraries. Currently we use a commercial tool for this task. However, it is expensive and cumbersome to install and maintain. Coming from the Linux world, I find this a ridiculous restriction. In Linux, I can “grep” for anything. Long term, try to move your source code to the IFS, but meanwhile, you can indeed grep source members. The trick is to use the Qshell version of grep (in /usr/bin) that understands native EBCDIC encoding. Open source fans…
