Salaries for IBM i System Administrators in USA Conscious_Switch6483

I am an experienced IBM i system administrator with a bit over 8 years of experience, currently based in Europe. However, I am in the process of relocating to the United States and will soon begin my job search. I would like to learn more about the salary range for IBM i system administrators in the United States. Although I have yet to finalize my exact location in the U.S., I am considering living in either California or Texas. I am also open to other regions that may offer a higher number of IBM i job opportunities. I would greatly appreciate any insights you can provide regarding the typical annual compensation for IBM i system administrators. Thank you. submitted by /u/Conscious_Switch6483[link][comments] Read More

IBM i for a homelab? zrad603

We use an IBM i server at work, but nobody in our department is even allowed to touch it, it is owned and operated by an Application Service Provider. I’ve always wanted to learn more about IBM i. Would it be possible to buy an IBM iSeries/power server on ebay, and actually do something with it? How hard is it to actually get software, etc just to mess around with? or is everything under lock and key, and only available if I pay IBM a ton of money? Obviously, I’m not planning on actually doing any actual production work with it. This would purely be educational and experimental. submitted by /u/zrad603[link][comments] Read More
